The course

Caleta's second course opened in 2006 and was designed by Manuel Piñero, a two-time World Cup winner. It's an 18-hole par 70 of around 5,400 metres from the back tees, laid out links-style among hills and dunes that give some shelter from the trade winds. Several lakes come into play, and the 11th is played over water. It suits holiday golfers as well as low handicappers.

Facilities

There's a golf school, a pro shop, a putting green, club hire, changing rooms and a clubhouse restaurant. Buggies have sometimes been unavailable, so ask when you book if you need one.

Green fees and booking

Expect to pay about €65 to €71 for 18 holes, with a cheaper twilight rate of around €40 in the afternoon; check current prices when you book. Book online at salinasgolf.com, and take a handicap certificate.

Finding it

The club is on the south-west edge of Caleta de Fuste, off the FV-2, about a kilometre past Fuerteventura Golf Club, and a short drive from all our homes. Combine a round with a visit to the Salt Museum at Salinas del Carmen, a couple of kilometres down the coast.
